Dental Technology
Modern Technology Supporting Your Dental Care
Technology Designed to Support Better Care
Dental technology can help our dentists see important details, gather diagnostic information, and explain findings more clearly to patients. At Deer Lake Dental, we incorporate technology into care when appropriate based on your individual dental needs, the area being examined, and the treatment being provided. These tools can support more detailed assessments and help our team plan care with greater clarity.
From digital imaging and intraoral scanning to air filtration and laser technology, each system serves a different role within the clinic. Together, they help support efficient
appointments, informed treatment planning, clearer patient communication, and a modern clinical environment focused on comfort and quality dental care.
CBCT Machine
A CBCT machine uses cone beam computed tomography to create detailed three-dimensional images of the teeth, jawbone, and surrounding oral structures. Unlike a traditional two-dimensional dental X-ray, CBCT imaging can provide multiple views of an area and help the dentist better understand the position and relationship of important structures.
CBCT imaging may be used when additional detail is needed for diagnosis or treatment planning. Depending on the patient's needs, these three-dimensional images can provide useful information when evaluating teeth, bone, dental implants, or other areas of the mouth.
3Shape Digital Wand (TRIOS) Intraoral Scanner
The 3Shape Digital Wand (TRIOS) Intraoral Scanner captures detailed digital images of the teeth and surrounding structures to create a three-dimensional representation of the mouth. The scanner is moved gently around the teeth while images are captured and combined into a digital model.
Digital scanning can provide an alternative to conventional impressions for certain dental procedures and allows the dentist to examine the digital model from different angles. These scans can also support treatment planning and make it easier to show patients details about their teeth and proposed dental care.
Digital X-Ray
Digital X-Rays allow our dental team to capture images of teeth and surrounding structures that cannot always be fully assessed during a visual examination. These images can help identify concerns involving tooth structure, bone, existing restorations, and areas between teeth.
Because the images are available digitally, they can be viewed and enlarged on a screen during your appointment. This allows our dentists to examine specific areas closely and can also make it easier to explain findings and discuss recommended treatment with you.
Picasso+ Diode Laser
The Picasso+ Diode Laser is a dental laser technology that may be used for certain procedures involving soft tissues in the mouth. It provides the dentist with a focused tool that can assist with precise treatment when laser use is appropriate for the individual procedure.
The specific use of the diode laser depends on a patient's oral health and treatment requirements. Your dentist will determine whether laser technology is suitable for your care and explain how it may be incorporated into the recommended procedure.
Surgically Clean Air Filtration
Surgically Clean Air Filtration is designed to support air quality within the dental clinic by filtering airborne particles and contaminants. Maintaining a clean clinical environment is an important part of creating a comfortable setting for both patients and the dental team.
The filtration system works continuously to help circulate and filter indoor air. It complements the infection prevention and cleanliness measures used throughout Deer Lake Dental and contributes to the overall clinical environment during your visit.
Intraoral Camera
An Intraoral Camera is a small handheld camera that allows our dental team to capture detailed images from inside your mouth. It can provide a close-up view of individual teeth, gums, restorations, and other areas that may be difficult for patients to see on their own.
Images from the camera can be displayed on a screen during your appointment, allowing your dentist to point out specific findings and explain them more clearly. This visual approach can help you better understand your oral health and participate more confidently in conversations about recommended dental treatment.
