Meet Dr. Lourdes Maqueira

Dr. Lourdes Maqueira is a co-owner of Deer Lake Dental and a general dentist with over 30 years of experience caring for patients of all ages. After many years of practising in Ontario, she relocated to Deer Lake in 2025, where she has made the community her permanent home and continues to provide dental care to local patients.
Dr. Lourdes is committed to creating a comfortable and reassuring dental experience built around open communication. She takes time to help patients understand their oral health, discuss
treatment options, and participate in decisions about their dental care.
Education and Experience
Dr. Lourdes earned her dental degree from the Higher Institute of Medical Sciences of Santa Clara in Cuba. After moving to Canada, she obtained her Canadian dental licence through the Faculty of Dentistry at the University of Toronto in 2006 and went on to practise in Ontario before relocating to Deer Lake.
Professional Memberships
Dr. Lourdes is licensed by the Royal College of Dental Surgeons of Ontario (RCDSO) and is also a member of the Newfoundland and Labrador Dental Board (NLDB) and the Canadian Dental Association.
Approach to Patient Care
Dr. Lourdes believes in open communication and collaborative decision-making. She works to ensure patients are informed about their oral health and involved in their treatment planning while providing gentle, compassionate care in a comfortable and supportive environment.
